PERFECT

Don’t go for perfect

Because ‘Perfect’ is

Just an idea.

Don’t go for ‘better than others,’

Because

Who are you?

Don’t go for ‘pretty,’

Go for beautiful and be beautiful

Just for you.

Don’t go for ‘attractive,’

You don’t need to prove

To anyone that you’re worth it.

We all have them — insecurities. There is no denying it that what people say and how they see us matter to us. It is a lie when we defensively say, “I don’t care what they think of me,” because you know that it still gets to you.

We are too caught up in what we can see, because seeing what’s on the outside is easy. Choosing what to display on the outside is easy. It still does matter how we present ourselves, and what comes out comes from within, yes. However, it is also easy to pretend, and pretense requires a lot of maintenance.

‘Perfect’ shouldn’t matter; ‘Good and I want to be better’ should.

‘Better than others’ is just ugly. Don’t go there.

‘Pretty’ is just an opinion, no matter how widely accepted it is. Be beautiful.

‘Attractive’ is reflective of a need for approval. You don’t need clearance to be you. You don’t need approval for you to feel validated or wanted. Don’t let your confidence come from others — that’s insecurity, or even from yourself — that’s ego. Let your security and identity come from Above — that’s acceptance & love.

Sometimes, we don’t feel like hearing these supposedly reassuring things. It’s easy to scoff at remarks when we don’t feel that they apply. When did feeling or emotion ever validate or invalidate truth?

If God says, “You are beautiful. You are wonderful,”

Then you are (Ps. 139:14).

If God says, “You are mine,”

Then you are (Jn 10:28).

If God says, “My Child, I accept you, and I am proud of you,”

Then He is (Eph 1:4–6).
