Response to Medium

I think that it is highly appropriate, especially in light of our class analysis of Marshall McLuhan’s theories, that we are using a platform called Medium. In tandem with McLuhan’s theory, our class, and this assignment specifically, is quite literally “the medium is the message”. It seems to be a fairly user friendly site but I can’t help but notice that this collaborative blog space is highly similar to others of its kind. This site, among others, makes me think about a saying that my Dad used to say about any business, “Stick to your core”. I feel that this site and so many others like it, strive to be so many different things — a social media platform, a creative outlet, a news source, that it is quite overwhelming. It is hard to distinguish exactly what this site’s “core” is. Overall it seems to be a great site, but at the same time, I feel like it is striving too hard in too many directions.
