Parse Migration: the real automatic migration wizard user: make yourself at home! Now you can completely and quickly migrate your Parse API to back{4}app. Don’t worry about rewrite your app to other API. Moreover you don’t need to learn how to use a new platform.

This article is going to show you how quickly and smoothly migrate your Parse App to back{4}app platform with few clicks. Bellow we show up the steps to migrate:

  3. Backend creation
  4. Database migration
  5. Keys Migration
  6. SDK update
  7. back{4}app dashboard
1 — Sign Up (No credit card required)

The first step is to create a new account (if you are not a back{4}app user). If you already have an account please go to Step 2. On back{4}app’s home page click over the Sign Up menu on window’s right side.

Fill your basic user account information: email, password, password confirmation, accept the Terms of use and click on Sign Up.

You will be logged and see our dashboard. Congratulations now you are a back{4}app user! Go to Step 3

2- Sign in

If you are a back{4}app user you just need to Sign in. To login on back{4}app and see the migration wizard click on Sign in menu on the back{4}app home page.

Fill your information: email, password and click on Sign in button.

You’ll be logged in and see the back{4}app dashboard.

3- Backend creation

Already logged in and seeing the back{4}app dashboard click on Migrate Parse app button.

You’ll see the initial wizard migration screen. Click on Start.

On the next wizard screen you’ll need to inform your App Id and App Name.
To get those information just access your Parse dashboard, choose the app you want to migrate and click on it. Go to App Settings -> Security & Keys and copy the App Id and Name. For more details about how to get these information click here.

Fill the information and click on Next button.

At this moment the back{4}app platform will create all your infrastructure (Database and Parse Server).

4- Database migration

After create your infrastructure let’s migrate your database. You’ll see your new database URI, copy it.

Back to your Parse Dashboard and proceed with the database migration steps as recommended by Parse. Make sure that you have tested all your app before complete the Database Migration and proceed to the next step. For more details about how to migrate your Database on Parse click here.

After you migrate your database using Parse Dashboard back to the back{4}app wizard. Check the box: I completed and tested my database migration and then click Next button.

Now your database is completely migrated.

5- Keys migration

This step is optional. If you don’t want to inform the other Parse Keys we’ll generate new keys for you. If you want to keep your Parse keys please back to your Parse dashboard and copy them to the back{4}app wizard window. For more details about how to find these keys click here. After that click on Next button and go to final step.

5- SDK update

Congratulations your’ve migrated all your Parse app. Now as the last Step, you must update your application with your new API address. Install the last version of Parse SDK that supports API address update. Update your app and start use the back{4}app API. Click on Finish button.

6- back{4}app Dashboard

Congratulations your Parse app migration to back{4}app is successfully concluded. Please check you back{4}app’s app on our Dashboard.
