That’s one of today’s main challenges for the “free web” we’ve all known and love over the last 20 years; we’ve been long used to the free ride and scoff at the thought of stopping at a virtual toll booth with every click; however, keeping those servers alive and content flowing has never been free. And on the other hand, that $1.50 which won’t amount to much in the US are likely a day’s worth of food and water for someone else in the other side of the world. The more we elaborate about this, the more the “freemium” model sounds like the least complicated compromise to move forward.
