How your kids take surprises is completely separate from the issue of trigger warnings which are specifically for the wellbeing of those who have endured trauma or live with chronic conditions which can be exacerbated by external forces. If that’s not your kids, that’s terrific for them. For the people for whom it applies, trigger warnings are the equivalent of food labels which note common allergens, or signage warning motorists to be alert of upcoming curves, steep hills or falling rocks.
I often wonder if people who get worked up over trigger warnings (beyond the pale, he says!) get angry about this:
