How To Grow Your Business Resilience Muscle Using 5 Counter-intuitive Mind Hacks

Did you know there are 5 mindsets that DRIVE entrepreneurs annoingly calm and joyful even though sometimes the roof is falling on them? Because this happens to all of us from time to time, you know that, right?
If you’re thinking of acting confident and putting on a bold front aka “fake it ’til you make it” think again. Though this may work sometimes, putting on and maintaining a mask is so damn hard and also distructive. Not to mention how hard is to trick your mind! Besides why do it in the first place? Faking things, that is.
I don’t know about you, but I am into being authentic and candor, first of all with myself and then with other people, even though I step on people’s toes as a result (including mines). No wonder “fake it ’til you make it” never worked for me.
Luckily for me I found another way, a better way, a more efficient way to master my mind that I will share in a couple of seconds. But first, let me share with you a flash of inspiration I just felt while writing on paper this piece of content:
Even though you get to know every single trick, tactic, strategy in the book, whether is a marketing book or another business book, even though you may attend dozens of courses and seminars you won’t become as successful as you want if you don’t have the right mindset or as I like to call it The Marketing Mindset. Chances are you’ll even experience massive pain and failure from what you might never fully recover. — Amalia Trita (feel free to quote me on this)
Why is that, you might ask yourself right now. Here is WHY:
We are all in the marketing business (Seth Godin also agrees with me on this matter!) So the faster you come to believe it the faster you’ll start to see results, even skyrocket your business. You may be an entrepreneur, a business owner, a life coach, an author or a fitness instructor, it doesn’t matter your profession, because in nowadays we all work in the people business industry (and so are you).
I am really passionate about this topic and though I could spend hours, even days talking about it, let’s get back on track, shall we?
I promised you 5 counter-intuitive mind hacks that can and will help you grow your business resilience muscle and become less stressed and become more confident that the Universe is bending to help you (Yes, you heard me right!) so here there are:
MIND HACK №1 — Good thing, bad thing — who knows?
We all know or should know by now that every situation we go through, good or bad happens for a reason, even though we cannot always pin point that reason. However we often tend to overthink, to ponder on things, even to blame ourselves or others for the “bad things” in our lives.
What if you begin to shut down the victimhood, the helplessness, the anxiety or even the anger you might feel from time to time and think back in your business for a moment.
Has anything happened to you that, at that time, you thought was a “bad thing”?
Looking back at it today, can you see clearly that it was not so bad and perhaps was even a “good thing”?
I know something definitely happened to me. And it keeps on happening everytime I let myself truly believe that.
I honestly cannot find enough words to express my gratitude for discovering this mind hack and also for letting myself be open to it. And by that I mean practice it, not only read about it or listened it, many times throughout the day, not just once.
This powerful mind hack works wonders not only when it comes to your business, but in life in general. Let me tell you that the moment you realize that the Universe is bending to help you, your mindset shifts completely and from that point you cannot go back to your old disempowering mindset (nor you should).
MIND HACK №2— The Universe is friendly and benevolent
We all experience “bad things” in our businesses, but are these “bad things” as bad as they look or are in fact “good things”? It all depends on your perspective on things.
For instance, you’ve just found out that one of your clients tried to play you and steal your work for free. How would you feel? Shocked, angry or relieved? The reason I’m sharing this is because this actually happened to me several times, not once. However, last time it happened, I experienced relief rather than sadness and that was for me a game changer. How did I manage to do that?
First of all, I let go of expectations. After doing that, another mind blowing thing happened. I realized that by letting this client go I now have more time to add value to the right clients, that I had to say no to because I didn’t have enough time. When you work in the people business industry, especially serving people through coaching and consulting, first of all you trade your time so working with the right people is extremely important.
The reason I am sharing this is to let you know bad things cand and will happen from time to time. Running your own business is hard but it’s so fullfiling.
I strongly encourage you to TRUST that the Universe has your back. Give yourself permission to take in this mind hack and you’ll soon begin to notice that stress is fading away.
MIND HACK №3 — Invest in the process, not in the goals
Truth being told, we all live in a goal-oriented society and though it’s not a “bad thing” it becomes bad when we get lost in the process. What do I mean by that and why is bad?
We tend to focus too much on the goal and neglect the actionable part when it should be the other way around. Why is that? Goals only establish direction. Not to mention that the purpose of setting a goal is not to achieve it. Yes, I know… you’re probably thinking I got this wrong.
Truth being told, I had the same reaction first time I came in contact with this information from one of my mentors Paul Martinelli, president of John Maxwell Team International, the largest international community of leaders growing leaders that I decided to join more than 4 years ago (so grateful for that!). But it’s no mistake. What really matters is who you become in that process, not the goal itself.
Besides, when you focus your emotions on the activity itself and let go of the goal you release stress!
Why stress yourself to no purpose if the purpose of the goal is not to get the goal and not invest in the process, enjoy the process and be grateful no matter the outcome instead?
Such a powerful insight, right? I will let you digest it for a couple of seconds…
I know it’s easier said then done, but what if you could feel gratitude instead of just thinking or saying outloud “I am grateful.. I am grateful…”?
MIND HACK №4 —Don’t just think gratitude, genuinely feel it
I was never good at keeping a daily gratitude journal and I used to think this was a “bad thing” because let’s face it: we like it or not, we all live in a so called gratitude oriented society where so called guru’s and online magazines make you feel somehow bad when you do not practice gratitude.
Without any intention of diminishing the power of gratitude journals, appreciations calendars and other creative ways to practice gratitude, my message is simply this: be grateful and express it freely, out loud, on your own terms whenever you feel like doing so, not just as soon as you wake up and / or before you go to sleep. Say thank you as often as you can, smile and bless the person or thing that made you feel more joyful. And try guided gratitude meditation. It’s awesome and it allows you to feel gratitude, not just think gratitude. :)
Last, but not least mind hack I wanted to share with you today is reframing
MIND HACK №5 — Reframe your current reality to avoid conflict
This is the most powerful mind hack I experienced so far and I highly recommend you give it a try. It’s not only about reframing your thoughts.
You probably know by now the not so “Secret” nowadays about how positive thinking can transform your life is not entirely true. It’s actually missing an important piece of the puzzle so to speak. And that is thinking positive is not enough… you also have to talk positive (reframe your language), feel positive (reframe your attitude, your emotions) and of course take massive action toward your goals and dreams, business or nonbusiness ones.
Nevertheless you can reframe anything you put your mind to. After all reframing is all about how you can see situations from another perspective.
I cannot emphasize enough how life changing was for me to take in these 5 mind hacks:
MIND HACK №1 — Avoid adding a label to what happens to you!
MIND HACK №2 — Trust the Universe is your friend and has your back!
MIND HACK №3 — Focus on the process of reaching the goal, not on the goal itself!
MIND HACK №4 — Be grateful as often as you can and genuinely feel & express your gratitude!
MIND HACK №5 — Reframe your current reality whenever you feel it better serves you!
The end… or the begining?
You know there is a saying that everything comes eventually to an end. And yes, this piece of content just ended. But here is a not so random tought…
What if the journey to mastering your mind the right way (no more “fake it ’til you make it bs!) is just starting… or if you are just like me the journey continues? In fact there is a great chance that your mindset already shifted and will continue to shift as long as you give yourself permission…
I will let you reflect on it for a while. :)
Now, before I really end this amazing journey I started about more or less ten laptop scrolls above, I would like to firstly take a moment and celebrate you. I also want to express how grateful I feel that you took the time to read it all! When I am passionate about something, I tend to forget when to stop…
Secondly, I sincerely hope and encourage you to get past thinking of trying these mind hacks and start practicing right away!
For me, the best way to learn and assimilate things and practices in my life and business is through experential exercises, not just through reading and doing endless checklists. And sharing my discoveries and my entrepreneurial journey with all of you. So stay tuned! I’m just getting warmed up!
Until our next journey together keep this in mind:
Dream BIG. Plan SMART. Act NOW.
(You Got This!)
Amalia
