If you like retro games, don’t wait too long and embark on a hilarious journey as Turnip Boy, a debt-ridden vegetable who sets out to repay his debt to the tyrannical Mayor Onion by infiltrating the local bank. Yes, you heard me right: “a vegetable.” This game is hilarious, with a whimsical world where anthropomorphic vegetables populate every corner, each with their own quirky personalities and witty dialogues. This world of anthropomorphic vegetables maybe will not capture your imagination, as it is a quite simple game, but will make you feel good, especially the lighthearted conversations and endearing characters, adding an extra layer of charm and humor to your adventure.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an excellent open-world action-adventure game.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora: an experience for the senses.

Ubisoft, the architects of this virtual frontier, created an amazing world. Their goal was to specifically design a different landscape from that seen in Far Cry 6. In my opinion, they have succeded in their task. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is all visuals and gameplay. Available on various platforms, it invites players to dive deep into an intricately designed world similar to that admired in the movie. Everything in this game contributes to creating a magnificent sensory experience for players. If you want to see and feel something different, buy Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora knowing that you will find something special. Borrowing from Far Cry’s mechanics is sensible and it is a good thing but do not think it is simply another replication. It could not be given the theme, so things were tweaked, improved, and even invented to make it work. Frontiers of Pandora share some DNA from Far Cry but have its mutations. Ubisoft produces a distinct gaming experience in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, one that should not be missed.

Gnosia

Gnosia, a social deduction visual novel.
Gnosia — An engaging social deduction game.
  • Developer: Petit Depotto
  • Publisher: Nippon Ichi Software
  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
  • Release Date: June 20, 2019

Gnosia feels like an outstanding experience, from its combination of social deduction, visual novel elements, and personal narrative to its unforgettable characters with distinct personalities, motivations, eccentricities, and stories that pulled me. Their stories impressed me the most. Gnosia, by Petit Depotto, creates genuine empathy towards these fictional souls, and the themes of survival and reincarnation are at the core of its narrative. Gnosia, more than offering an entertaining gaming experience, seems hard to forget and make you think. Some nostalgia remains long after its conclusion, with questions about so many difficult things to grasp, like trust, deceit, and the human condition. It resonates and provokes. It makes you think about life’s secrets and mysteries. Gnosia provides a fascinating journey of self-discovery.

Final Words

Alright, party people and pixel pals, it’s been a blast taking you on this virtual joyride through some of the latest and greatest of 2024. You may think I am crazy for choosing a Japanese visual novel social deduction game, however, you will find me no fault for including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown I hope. As for the Turnip Boy, I cannot see how you won’t love it… especially if you buy cheap PS5 games, as this is beautiful and dirty cheap. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a nightclub to tend to — and maybe a turnip to recruit for my heist crew. Stay tuned for more reviews that’ll make you snort your energy drink out of your nose and swear off turnip-related crime forever. 🎮🌙
