I've returned to Medium after a break for introspection and it's time for me to be loud and proud, open and honest and spill out what I've learned and continue to learn through my life experience.

Late recognised autistic and ADHD, I spend a solid chunk of early motherhood exploring everything I could about Complex PTSD after finding myself having slipped through the net for appropriate mental health support in postpartum depression. I remember after having been gifted a counsellor by a local charity, I had cried because I couldn't understand how I'd managed to piece together a study path rapidly that helped me to heal and grow. When I found out about being autistic, so much made sense.

A single mum from pregnancy, I had lost both of my parents to addiction before I had become a parent myself and found myself leaving behi nd coping mechanisms that no longer served me, on the quest of finding a better way so I could start life over again with this small magical human.

I had a lot of healing to do and I've learned an incredible amount in the last few years, benefitting from a decade long career in the fitness industry, I'd already a solid understanding of how the body and mind worked; in relation also to external factors like exercise and nutrition.

This holistic approach has been a huge part of my ability to engage resilience whilst also developing, slowly, the ability to feel safe to feel.

I took some time out of my blogging, in part from pushback from family members triggered by my work and in other part because I needed time to actually take part in my healing more than I should be speaking it.

I hope you enjoy joining me on my journey around self discovery, self awareness and self love; exploring living neurodivergence, complex trauma and everything in between; as well as enjoying the ways of tapping into strength and finding joy in life through the little and big things that can sometimes go overlooked.

With love,

Amanda
