Transmissions from Kauai, by Amanda JS Kaufmann
I'm a professional artist, writer, and educator, and I'm here to share my mid-Pacific wildlife conservation and art experience, as well as to learn from others about how to go about changing the world for the better.
I volunteer with Kauai's Hawaiian Monk Seal Response Team (NOAA & DLNR) and Surfrider, and I'm a member of the Kauai Society of Artists, with particular attention paid to endangered species and marine debris.
After 30,000+ words out of the gate, I'm refining this blog to hopefully appeal to more do-gooders out there: Expect occasional and quicker reads, more pictures, and a surprise or two (or more). I'm always looking to learn, and I invite you to subscribe so we can walk the challenging path of change together.
I wholeheartedly appreciate being in good company. If you're an HSP (highly sensitive person) like I am, you will extra appreciate this sentiment.
Help raise awareness by shopping a selection of my WordWorthyPhotos nature prints and products (including with my signature monk seal "poster pup") at society6.com/wordworthyphotos. Signed prints at Haloa Gallery & Studio, Lihue. You can also find me at the monthly Beach House Craft Fair on the south side of Kauai. And check out the latest venture with my husband: IlioKai.com (proceeds benefit The Marine Mammal Center). Do it for the animals!
With gratitude,
~Amanda

Note: For now, I am keeping this blog free and publicly accessible as a service, given the educational nature and downloads available here, but I encourage readers to support writers by becoming members of Medium. There's a lot of great stuff going on here.
