What is a knowledge claim?

A knowledge claim is a statement that the knower believes to be true yet is up to debate as to assess the veracity of the statement.

There are two categories of knowledge questions:
1st order knowledge questions:
These are knowledge claims that are made by knowers within areas of knowledge about the world.

2nd order knowledge questions:
These are knowledge claims that are made by knowers about knowledge; they are justified using tools of TOK, usually involving the scrutinization of the nature of knowledge.
