What happens when a man tries to stab you

We’d all like to think we’d react heroically and calmly in imagined threatening situations, but until we’re faced with certain things, we won’t know. I was out for a jog once and a snarling, barking pitbull broke out of someones house and charged at me from across the street. It instantly processed that there was no way I could outrun it and I’d have to fight. Luckily the owner corralled it back into the house before it could reach me. Was it a good idea to stand there quietly and brace myself? I don’t know. I just hope that my instincts make the right choice at the right moment if I’m ever confronted with a threat like you were.
