I hear you. Middle school was a pretty bad place for me. A group of bullies targeted me for years, and by the time I was out, my self-esteem was in tatters and I had pretty severe social anxiety as well as depression. So, I hear you. It led to a lot of stumbling around, a lot of walking into walls, a lot of time and therapy while I got myself sorted back out.

While I’m doing well now, if I had to point to one lingering lesson, one thing that still, after all this time, infuriates me, it’s that we live in a society where people can hurt other people in ways that leave lasting scars, and that the perpetrators are not only thoughtless, but get to remain thoughtless and walk away without dealing with the damage they leave behind, while it’s the victims who are left to reckon with the consequences.

But I try not to think about that too much, so mostly I just wanted to say: I hear you, and thanks for putting this out there for people to hear.
