Try this toe yoga

Try this challenge in sitting or standing- feet flat on the ground.

Can you lift your big toe in isolation?
Can you keep your big toe down and lift the other 4 toes?
Can you keep the big and pinky toes down and lift the middle three???

Do not roll the ankle out or in to compensate.

Isolation and coordination of movement in the foot is so crucial for optimal control during walking, stair negotiation and running! The more control your foot muscles (especially the big toe) have, the easier and quicker those muscles can correct foot/ankle alignment while on the move. This helps to avoid injuries like ankle sprains, strains and fractures.
