Exercise 2

For “Tradition,” I decided to go with the Copperplate font. When I think of traditional fonts, I think of Times New Roman or other similar fonts that convey professionalism and tradition. After all, the only fonts on typewriters were serif-like, which is why this font conveys tradition. Moreover, its thick lettering reminds me of text you would see on a classic/elegant hotel (see this example), further conveying this idea.

On the other hand, Purity (Shree Devangari 714) is completely different because it instead is Sans-Serif and much thinner. Rather than being clunky and sharp, it is smooth and rounded which conveys a sense of “purity” … perhaps it is free from the evils associated with a traditional typeface.

Finally, I used the Ailerons font to convey Future. The stems of each letter are tall and thin, conveying sci-fi/futuristic elements. Moreover, the arms of particular letters (see letters F and T) are extended rightward, conveying forwards motion which gives you a sense of the future.
