The difference between Art, Graphic Design and Communication is that both Art and Graphic Design serve as mediums of Communication.

Communication is essentially conveying ideas to others.

When this is done through a combination of pictures, video, and text, it is deemed as Graphic Design.

Art is also similar in definition. It is the conveyance of ideas through pictures, sculptures, etc.

Where the two differ is that Graphic Design is done in order to solve problems and make communication easier.

Art on the other hand just serves the purpose of conveying personal thoughts.

Art is done mainly for “wants” whereas Graphic Design is mainly done for “needs”.

In conclusion, both Art and Graphic Design are mediums of Communication, and Communication, if done well, is also Art.
