Gardein Teriyaki Chick’n Strips
The End Result — Strips, Bell Peppers, Rainbow carrots, Onion, Red Pepper Flakes

Cost

$3.99 for a 10.5 oz bag @ Sprouts in San Francisco, CA

Difficulty of Preparation — Simple & Easy

To prep these strips, all you have to do is stir-fry the already frozen strips for 5–7 minutes with whatever you’d like (it works well with bell peppers, onions, and garlic). The sauce packet comes in at the last minute on top of your stir fry.

Flavor 3/5

Gardein Teriyaki Chick’n Strips do a good job of having a lot of flavor for a meat substitute. This is mostly due to the teriyaki sauce packet. The “meat” itself however, is like other meat substitutes, with little flavor in the meat itself.

In the end, 4/5 for the sauce and 2/5 for the strips themselves

Texture 3/5

The strips themselves stay together even after rough stir-frying, which is great compared to other meat substitutes. The “bite” of the strips are in between chicken and firm tofu. The bite itself is decently satisfying.

Does it satisfy? 3.5/5

Did this fill me up and make me feel satisfied at dinner? Definitely. Did it keep me full like meat? Nope. I was hungry a few hours later.

Overall 3.5/5

These strips were definitely solid as a meatier substitute. The teriyaki flavoring makes it full of flavor and the texture is tough enough to give you a good bite. I would eat it again.
