The End of the Beginning (Skillcrush 101)

Hello there, adventurer! Well, it’s so nice to see you. I’ve been busy at work on the final days of my Skillcrush 101 class in the Front End Developer Blueprint. I fully coded a one page website, which is totally functional (just not live).

Check out all that awesome magic! I’m not going to post the code on codepen, because the Skillcrush crew worked hard on the lesson and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want their lesson code plastered on the web. But I’m pretty psyched that it works! And the links work! And stuff!

Next on the list is my own personal site. I’m workin on it..

Yes, it’s still a little baby site, but it’s a coming a long a. That’s a spicy meatball, after all. I’ve learned a lot over the past few weeks about HTML and CSS. The more I learn the more I realize I know NOTHING about bees.

we’ll see who brings in more honey.

Learning to love the floats. Still have a bit of an awkward relationship going on, because the suckers just really like to do their own thing. But I respect that, and we all believe in small government, right? So I’ll just keep trucking along. What’s our favorite thing this week?

box-sizing: border-box; FTW!!

Well, I couldn’t figure out wtf was up with the padding and the moving things around. Finally wrapped my head around the idea that it’s pushing the box out and making it bigger than it is supposed to be. That was the first revelation.

Second revelation, THREE SIDED BORDERS!! How fun.

Just make one like usual, and then set the side you don’t want to 0.

border: 1px solid red;

border-left: 0;

Right? something like that. Oh Atom, how come you can’t just know when I need to borrow you for like a SECOND. Can you PLEASE get out of your phone? I thought we said no texting at dinner.

Until next time!!!
