Enjoyed this piece a lot. How many times in my life have I turned to some ideal, whether that be travel or some other means, and quickly become disappointed in the outcome? It is ridiculous! I find it interesting how we have to find the happiness ourselves; it is not gifted to us. It requires searching and coming to know ourselves and finding comfort in the fact we are not living a perfect life. Though there are many keys to coming to this point of satisfaction and contentment I particularly appreciate the point in the article talking about seeing our lives through the eyes of gratitude. Truly, gratitude can only make our lives richer. Life is a continual process of learning and growing. Without gratitude one can hardly appreciate the growth that can occur. Life becomes a constant struggle of what has never happened and constant self wallowing and pity. We can make our own lives enjoyable. In fact, we need to do so. We must become agents to ourselves.

Though I do enjoy this article very much I do think that looking out at the possibilities, or future, can lead us to meaningful goals. When we have done a proper check-up on our “Box of Daily Experience” we can look out and see what more exciting things we can pull into our lives. Once, we have come to a place where we are at least somewhat content we can broaden our views! Again, I would say this is not a test of whether life is perfect happiness or not but rather looking outside of ourselves and seeing the possibilities of what more we can bring in and incorporate into our life experience. It would not make the new aspect a part of dull life but enhance the gratitude and joy we have already searched and found in our daily experience.
