It comes as no surprise to most of you reading this that the idea of value is becoming more and more abstract. We live in a world where a so called rogue ai can start its own cryptocurrency which can be swapped into fiat currencies. It comes as no surprise then that some cutting edge abstract artists would want to play around with these abstract forms of value. In comes the story of the memecoin $LID
The backdrop setting of the $LID fiasco is the sale of the infamous banana duct taped to wall for 6.2 million dollars by Sothebys Art Auction House. A banana can be worth millions hmmm? Why not a $LID or a $STRAW? Also, SuperRare was doing their own banana themed open call. So an an artist known as Max Osiris started his own open call. The curator was attempting to find some of the most innovative lid art in existence, and he promised to mint the best one on his SuperRare profile. Why lids in particular you ask?
Max says “conceptually i thought is was an even cooler and more contemporary piece of modern art that’s relatable pretty much anywhere around the world”

The strange nature of a decentralized memecoin allows for everyone to participate, and some pretty strange happenings occur from this. Some random twitter bot related to memecoins picked up the $LID ticker.
