Memorial Poems for my Grandmother

With my grandmother’s commemoration day around the corner, I felt like it was only right to express how much she meant to me. SLEEP IN PEACE, NANA. I miss you tremendously.

TODAY WE PRAISE A JUST WOMAN

A LOVING PERSON IN WHICH I WAS FAN

HER LOVE WAS TREMENDOUS AND SINCERE

RAISING HER CHILDREN IN THE MIDST OF GREAT FEAR

SHE HAS LEFT US WITH BROKEN HEARTS

AS WE MEND OUR THOUGHTS, PICKING UP PIECES, TORN APARTS

WE MUST REALIZE THAT SHE HAS A SPECIAL PLACE A NEW IDENTITY, WITH ANGELIC POWER AND A NEW FACE

THIS ANGEL IS NOW BEAMING DOWN ON US

MAKING SURE WE ARE SAFE, SECURE, AND JUST

JESUS HAS JUST RECRUITED A NEW MEMBER

IN WHICH WE WILL ALL ULTIMATELY SURRENDER

SO DONT BE HURT BUT BE GLAD

WE WILL ALL MEET EVENTUALLY, SO DONT BE SAD

MY LOVE FOR MY NANA

I REMEMBER HER ON MY WAY TO WORK

SEEING HER ON FRIDAY, AS SHE SMILES AND SMIRKS

I WILL NEVER FORGET BUYING THE DESSERTS AND CHIPS

WATCHING HER ENJOY THE SWEETNESS AND THE DIPS

WHAT CAN I SAY AT THIS POINT

I WILL NEVER AGAIN VISIT HER JOINT

BUT, ITS OK, IMAGINING HER BEING HAPPY WITH JESUS

THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY WAY I WOULD LET YOU LEAVE US!

SO I SHOULD SMILE AGAIN AND LET HER REST

CONTINUE TO ENJOY LIFE AND LIVE LIFE TO MY BEST

Dearest Grandmother

We have lost our soul our life

A sweet and loving person and a wife

Her name was Barbara, she was kind

A rare Gem that you will never find

I remember the times she spoke to me

She told me stories and sang to me

There is no substitute for Grandma

The love she showed for us and Grandpa

I tear up everytime I see her residence

Its difficult not bringing cookies to her presence

God why did you take her away so fast?

Having her live up to 100 would have been a blast

But what can you do at this point but to cry

Maybe we will cross paths again in the Holy Sky

Love you Grandma
