Overview

We can interact with the virtual assistant for many reasons; to google search via voice, play music, execute commands, run different apps created by other developers and they can also be integrated with other platforms and devices.

Now, have you ever thought of playing a voice message to a Google Home connected to the same wifi network? No more yelling the people in the other room — why not playing a message on the nearest assistant next to them?

Talking — Sending a Message

📝 What you’ll need

  • Google home
  • Connection to wifi
  • A Browser

There are many ways to tackle the problem fundamentally.

  1. The easiest way would be to say “Ok Google Broadcast/shout/tell everyone/announce ‘insert your message here’ “ from many devices connected to the network.

2. A second cleaner way you could do this is to develop a mobile app that registers and then cast your message onto the desired device.

3. Another very simple and hacky way is to use a tab in the chrome browser in which can do a voice cast or an audio sharing via Chromecast.

You simply use a tab in the browser that can play and reproduce the message in the desired google home 🎉. Let’s see it step by step:

  1. Open any voice recorder app on a tab, it could also be a channel such as WhatsApp, Telegram but on the browser, not the native apps.

2. Click on settings -> Cast…

3. Choose the Google Home device connected the network.

4. Click cast and listen to the message you sent!

You can check other apps created by other developers at the Google Assistant Directory.
