In the IVF procedure, the one thing that is an important step is embryo transfer. While this is a celebrating moment as some couples do not even reach this far, it is a moment to fear, too, as there are many myths regarding the same.

So here is your guide that you should start before an IVF treatment which is facts-based so that you can get a successful IVF.

1. Search the most experienced doctor — IVF is a complicated procedure, and not every clinic is suitable to perform the advanced techniques. Finding a good IVF centre is a key to having success in getting pregnant. You should also insist on a senior doctor in the IVF centre as experience matters in such cases. A skilled and experienced practitioner knows what the best way to perform a procedure is.

2. A dummy run — In IVF, embryo transfer is everything. So you should ask your doctor to perform a mock transfer which can help in evaluating the uterus cavity and in locating the potential barriers to the entry. The mock transfer helps in finding out if you need an extra catheter. A good consultant will ensure that the embryo transfer happens successfully, so he wouldn’t mind performing a mock transfer.

3. Avoid hydrosalpinx — Hydrosalpinx is a fluid present in one or both the fallopian tubes, which usually is associated with a history of STDs and endometriosis.

Hydrosalpinx can affect your IVF procedure. The fluid can leak in the uterus and can interfere with the lining of the uterus, causing issues in the embryo transfer. It is important to have ultrasound testing or a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) before IVF to rule out the fluid. Once detected, you can take treatment and then move forward with the procedure in the best IVF centre in India.

4. Don’t skip the tests — Trust clinicians and take all the essential tests needed before the procedure in the Fertility clinic in Bangalore. If an IVF centre doesn’t request you enough tests, then it means that all they care about is their bank balance. For an IVF patient, tests like hormonal profiling are a must, along with the semen analysis of your male partner.

Hormonal profiling is important for donor egg patients, but a semen analysis and the transvaginal scan on the 13–14th day are also important.

5. Folic acid — Folic acid supplements help in preventing any congenital disabilities, so you should take folic acid supplements religiously. No matter if you are trying naturally or going for IVF, you should not skip your folic acid dose. IVF patients should start taking folic acid supplements three months before the embryo transfer. You should consult your doctor about how much folic acid is good for you.

IVF treatment is not just only about getting the treatment and chilling out. IVF specialists never tell you anything about taking good care of yourself, which is an important step apart from discussing IVF treatment costs with your doctor.
