Rethinking URL bars as primary browser UI
Owen Campbell-Moore

I find it interesting that PCs have the browser and websites, but many of those websites offer apps for my phone. Could the future be apps for everyone, and websites disappear as apps replace them, even on the PC? Then the app store becomes the search engine. It’s a different level, but as the smartphone becomes the defacto platform it seems like a definite possibility. Similar to the way the command line is so strange to new CIS/IT students these days, as they’ve not only never seen one, but never even heard of it until their instructor opens a cmd window for the first time in class.
