Jon Voight criticized his daughter Angelina Jolie for her support of the people in Gaza by calling for a “humanitarian ceasefire”

In the midst of the recent Israel-Hamas conflict, Angelina Jolie released a statement, taking to Instagram on Saturday, she wrote, “Gaza has been an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave.”

“Whole families are being murdered. While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians — children, women, families — are being collectively punished and dehumanized, all while being deprived of food, medicine and humanitarian aid against international law,” she says, criticizing the leaders of the world for being “complicit in these crimes” by not calling for a “humanitarian ceasefire.”

Following this post, Jolie has drawn much criticism from the public for seemingly spreading anti-Israeli rhetoric. However, the criticism didn’t stop there. Her father, Actor Jon Voight, also accused her of disseminating “lies” on social media.

Voight shared his response via a video statement on Twitter (X), stating that he was “disappointed that my daughter has no understanding of God’s honor, God’s truth.”

He continued, “The issue here is the destruction of the history of God’s land, the holy land, the land of the Jews… The Israeli army has to protect the land of Israel and its people, this is a war.”

Voight, being an outspoken Republican, has never shied away from discussing his opinions, even going so far as to say that the people on the left are “evil, corrupt, and wanting to tear down this nation.”

His daughter, Angelina Jolie meanwhile is no stranger to humanitarian work. As a seasoned UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Jolie accomplished more than raising awareness. By using her celebrity status and resources, she has dedicated more than two decades to addressing major humanitarian concerns throughout the world.

“My focus is on the people displaced by violence in any context,” she said in her statement on social media, “Gaza has a population of over 2 million people (half of them children), who have lived under a severe blockade for nearly two decades, on top of decades of displacement and statelessness.”

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated on Monday that Gaza is quickly turning into a “graveyard for children” and that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli airstrikes has surpassed 10,000, according to Palestinian health authorities.
