Brazilian fans aim to give popstar a welcome out of this world for performance this weekend

One of the biggest sensations in the world is probably about to get the biggest tribute as Brazil aims to give Taylor Swift a huge welcome as she lands in Brazil today for the Latin American leg of her world tour.

In what is being deemed as a collective effort from the Swifties ( a collective name given to Swift’s fans worldwide), Brazilian fans proposed an idea to have her image projected on the world-renowned Christ the Redeemer statue.

It became a viral sensation after a fan mock-up of Jesus in the Junior Jewels shirt began circulating around, but now, it seems it’ll become a real thing soon.

The idea is being seriously considered by Mayor Eduardo Paes who is showing willingness to allow the singer’s “Junior Jewels” T-shirt from her “You Belong With Me” music video to be projected onto the famous statue this weekend when she brings the Eras Tour to the city.

Addressing his followers on X, he said: “Dear @taylorswift13 fans, I’m going to ask dear Father Omar to see if we can get this honor.”

Rio de Janeiro’s famous monument of Jesus Christ was voted in the early 2000s as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and has seen lights or projections used for several purposes.

In 2020, a projection to make Jesus look like a doctor was displayed on Easter Sunday as a tribute to frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic.

Commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the landmark was lit with pink this past October.

However for it to get a makeover for a visiting concert tour will be something entirely new, affirming Taylor’s reign as the global popstar.
