Frankly, I’m not a fan of the newer Medium.
I’d hate to hate, but…
Wow, I a whopping 13 followers. I am grateful for each and every one of you, but frankly, I’m no fan of the rather new Medium change.
I miss having articles in multiple collections and submitting them freely to relevant collections. It got my work some attention — even enough so to soon be featured on a new website. Freedom to submit to collections allowed for new connections. Sure, it may take some time before collection editors were free to finally read my article and determine its viability for the collection, but 90% of the time, it did.
Sharing my posts via Twitter and Facebook do not help much either, because it is not the right audience. No, I find that Medium has quite a wide variety of readers that take a liking in different styles, and this adds to diversity.
Without this feature, I haven’t been able to reach out there as a writer (by hobby) in high school with absolutely zero business connections. I don’t have any editor friends or publicists, but I do have a voice.
I went from having a couple hundred reads on a post to no more than a handful, and while the number of reads do not mean much, it’s a bit disheartening. I’ve taken to opening a new blog that allows for hashtags to get my work noticed, and I’ve found some success considering the relatively new exposure.
I love opportunity, and Medium’s new settings have plateaued any future hopes.
