How to Run a Marathon
Jul 24, 2017 · 1 min read
- Read Born to Run.
- Get your snacks.
- Believe you can do it.
- Run 20 miles for your longest training run.
- Break it into chunks: half marathon, 7 more miles, you’re at 20, you’ve never run past 20 before, it’s all new now.
- Feel your body.
- When you’re tired, high-five a little kid.
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
- Take Lisa’s* advice: “When you feel badly during your race, just give it time. Have something to eat or drink, and wait. Eventually something will shift and you’ll feel better.”
- Ask someone wonderful to wait for you at the finish.
- Drink some Gatorade. You’re not too good for it.
