Looking for Gods’ Will for your life?

Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:14–22‬ ‭

Almost every young girl I chat with is praying for God’s perfect will for their lives. My friends are asking for God to lead them in His will for their lives. I’m praying God’s perfect will to be evident in my own life. Common theme. Good thing.

As I am currently praying for direction and Gods’ perfect will for my future I can’t help but notice how much confusion and even discouragement this topic can bring about. Sometimes it can feel as though your staring at a blank wall with zero clue as to where to start, what’s behind the wall, or what to do next.

I will be finished with my masters in just 8 months (Masters of Practical Theology from the King’s University in Southlake Texas 🎉💃🏼👏🏼) and I’m already wondering what God has for me up His sleeve!

It is a healthy and good desire to want God’s perfect will for our lives. But sometimes we can over complicate things! God gives us a few pretty good and pretty big clues in His Word about what His will for our lives are.

Hint: Gods’ will is the same for all His children. He took the time to clearly outline His will in the Bible. We can know His will by reading Hos Word!

It is always refreshing to me when I’m praying or even just thinking about a specific thing and then POOF God shows me the answer in His word through my daily Bible reading plan! {Which BTW of you are looking for one you can use the one I use by checking out powerofdbr.com} Today God gave me a little elbow nudge when I came across 1 Thess. 5

The will of God for me and for you:

  • Warn those who are lazy
  • Encourage those who are timid.
  • Take tender care of those who are weak.
  • Be patient with everyone.
  • See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
  • Always be joyful.
  • Never stop praying.
  • Be thankful in all circumstances,

{for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus}

  • Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.
  • Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said.
  • Hold on to what is good.
  • Stay away from every kind of evil.

Paul is going down a list of important truths for us to remember and then it’s like the Holy Spirit stops Him and says, “I know that many many of my children will be asking what my will is for their lives… Would you just tell them that this is it?” Then Paul picks up where he left off to complete the list.

These 12 very clear instructions on the will of God for ours lives aren’t complicated. They are simple and easy to understand. The hard part is applying them. Sometimes we tend to make things super complicated because it’s easier then doing what we know to do.

Forge Ahead: Break out of the confusion we caused by laziness and do the will of God! Get busy searching the scripture out for yourself to find His will smack in the middle of every word He recorded.
