LEO is the SEO for Professionals

You will check Behance website if you are looking for a graphic designer. There you can see their profile including their previews works and designs. This gives you a clear understanding of how that person works and thinks. Looking for an article about career improvement leads you towards googling some relevant expressions. Google helps you find the blogs or websites writing about your stuff.
But you don’t usually search for people using Google. We almost search for people in Linkedin. The point is that there are numerous professionals out there looking for opportunities but you don’t always find them without pains. Professionals mostly are experts in their field and do not interact with their social platforms well and don’t take them seriously. They mostly just set up an account in Linkedin and then go get busy of their life and work. They don’t usually update their new positions, their achievements, etc. They only come back and visit their home feed whenever Linkedin sends them an email about their community to bring them back to Linkedin.
If the websites of blogs just publish new posts every often, this doesn’t guarantee user attraction. This only shows that this blog is active while it needs to work on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in order to be on the first page of search engines such as Google. SEO is really a science and an art the same time. Making your blog visible on the first page of Google or other search engines requires tons of work to be done. You need to optimize your website theme for search engines, put special tags and meta-data on your landings, write texts in a way it’s readable for search engines, add appropriate and enough tags, putting headlines in the text, putting internal links to other pages of your website, mentioning the website pages or articles you have used as a resource for this article, etc.

HR Manager must be a hunter!
The thing that happens when searching for specific people with specific skills and work experience is the pain point I’m going to talk about here. As the HR manager of your company you are assigned a task to find a talent for the next product manager position of the company. The HR manager starts posting a job vacancy on the company’s website and also other recruitment platforms such as Glassdoor and Indeed. This is not the end of finding a talent. Talents are not jobless guys. They are always busy somewhere doing their job. This is when the term “Head Hunting” comes into the game. Head Hunting means finding talents around the community, getting in touch with them, contacting them, convincing them about your job position and why it’d be a great opportunity for her to join and finally bringing him to the company for the initial interview.
You are lucky if she accepts your offer and your director will be proud of you for the task you have accomplished and you will also hold your head high because of your achievement.
But what is LEO?
We just talked about an HR manager looking for talents over the internet. He doesn’t open a browser and start typing “talented product manager” and find talented ones. He’d definitely goes to Linkedin first and starts searching for people with special skills and experiences as a product manager. He would then select some candidates and puts a magnifier on them for a while.
LEO is a made-up world by me that stands for Linkedin Engine Optimization. I call it Linkedin marketing. LEO helps you be found by HR managers and companies easier. There are the same principles as SEO with LEO.

Below you can find some things you can do in order to optimize your Linkedin profile for HR managers and search results so that you are more visible than before and start getting hundreds of views on your profile every month even if you don’t have a lot of followers.
1- Headline
The worst thing about your personal profile on Linkedin in the headline that you don’t care about. It’s the first thing people read before even reading your name. They see your profile picture then read your headline. Some people write stories in their headline and some write their wishes. It’s a place to tell others what your field of expertise is and what you can help them with.
2- Profile Picture
A black spot in a white paper catch’s your sight easily. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and it’s absolutely correct. You call yourself the CEO but look like a dancer on your profile picture? That doesn’t make sense at all. So choose a professional picture for your profile picture.
3- Name
Some of us have got long names with prefix and suffix. But it doesn’t have to be fully written on your profile. You can write the part you want the world to call you with or make an abbreviation of your names. Don’t put three names. Help them know which one to call you with.
4- Cover Photo
If your profile picture and headline attract their attention they will click on your name and check your profile. There are a lot of ideas to make your cover photo interesting. Just Google it.
5- Profile Summary
This piece of text shows what you think about yourself and evaluate your abilities and skills. Many people read your summary only if it is short in length and easily readable.
Try writing your summary several times and refine it every time until you have a well written summary that exactly points out your strengths.
6- Experience
People always want to know what you have done in the past then start judging you. Big names in your experience is an eye catching thing for everyone. The thing is to write them specifically one by one. Every work experience must have a headline and a short list of your responsibilities and achievements if there is any. Also don’t forget to put the time-frame. That is also desirable if you link your company page to the experience.
7- Certificates
Being professional is not only about having work experience, it is also about your academic skills. Having special certificates in your field shows that you spend time for improvement and profession development. So don’t forget to list your certificates if there is any.
8- Publications
Some people publish books and articles from their work experience and skills. Having articles published in conferences and journals, or speeches at seminars describes you as an active person in your professional community with a scientific approach and background.
9- Achievements
This part is a little bit tricky because not everybody puts this part in his resume. You might have done some extraordinary things or have gained some great results by doing something in your past experience. These are the things you have to talk about them. Because nobody will understand how great you are at your job by reading your previews workplaces. You need to write about what you have accomplished during your different jobs.
10- Linkedin Posts
The same as writing in a journal or a scientific magazine, writing LinkedIn posts brings value for your public face. Writing in a professional place for experts means you have some words to say. This could be a sign that you try to communicate your knowledge and skills to the world which is a sign of being an expert.
To be honest, there are a lot to write about LEO, as big as publishing a book. But if you know about SEO, you can follow the principals here and get unbelievable results.
Following these simple rules will bring you hundreds of targeted profile views for your profile that can create unbelievable opportunities for you and your professional life.
