The Hollywood Movie: There will be Blood
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, in which starring was Mila Daniel Day-Lewis.
I watched this film in the midst of political fever in the country and its powerful visual narrative captured my attention. I didn’t read the cast description before watching the movie, but Daniel Day-Lewis was so engrossed in the lead role that I didn’t recognize him. Those who have seen Daniel in My Beautiful Launderettes, Lincoln and Kendra’s novel In Bearable Lightness will find him in a completely different and unique role.
There will be Blood:
The film is based on the life of an oil prospector named Daniel. The growth of the character is shown brilliantly and Daniel Day-Lewis plays the main role in this character study. The director has used long shots and moving shots brilliantly. The make-up man also showed no qualms in showing the main character from youth to middle age. The only twist in the story is the relationship between the father and the son, in which the twists and turns could not be justified.
The film is based on a lesser-known novel by Sinclair Lewis, “Oil”, but I believe that only the main idea was taken from the novel in the creation and setting of the film’s story.
Daniel Day-Lewis is the son of Cecil Day-Lewis, the famous English poet of his time, who was also the national poet of Great Britain for four years. His wife, Rebecca Miller, is the daughter of American playwright Arthur Miller, who was also the husband of American actress Marilyn Monroe. With such literary assets, it is not surprising that Daniel Day-Lewis excels in his field. He also received an Oscar for his role in this film.
