Myself, I moved to a small village in the Andes Mountains of Peru over 5 years ago, and before that I lived in Ashland, OR. and Santa Cruz, CA. I grew up in NYC.
Living in a village here in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, outside Cusco, has really changed my life, much like this author has so beautifully expressed.
There are around 4,000 people in my pueblo, “Pisac”, and another 6,000 within the dozen indigenous mountain communities. In fact, our work is within these indigenous communities. Feel free to visit us!
Thanks for sharing a great perspective on getting out of the allure of the city, and realizing what is truly most precious in life.
I am a part of life here in a way I never could be in a big city. Much of the best things can be found much easier in some ways, and much saner and calmer, in a small village or pueblo somewhere. ☺
