How to Use Fax Cover Sheets and Templates

The days are gone when waiting not-so-patiently by a shrieking fax machine as a spool of paper filled that area around it. The main benefit of these paper-electronic hybrids includes leaving yourself with a paper trail for record keeping. You can use the same program you use for typing the information you are about to fax to someone and create the fax cover sheet. Here is the step by step process to create fax cover sheets and templates using the word:

1. First of all, open Microsoft word. Click on the file tab and Click New.

1. Double click the faxes button. Scroll through the fax templates and then double-click one that will be suitable for your own template. After a few minutes, the templates open in a new word window screen.
2. Click on the cursor into the first text field on fax form that may be a company. Fill your name and then enter the corresponding information.
3. Press the tab key and enter further information such as your return fax number, email address or date of the fax that you can use in the Fax Cover Sheet Template.
4. Give the fax a special message by selecting the page layout tab. Click the watermark button on the screen. Choose the draft option to add this to the fax template.
5. Now change the preset text on the fax by highlighting it and typing over it. If the template displays “For” highlight and type “To” over it, per your preferences.
6. Click the File tab and click save as. Then enter the name, such as Fax template in the file name box. Finally, click Save.

1. In the last step, reopen the template each time you are ready to fax. Fill out all the relevant information on the cover sheet and then resave the document with a new name such as Fax template 10–01–11" so that your template is always in its original form and always ready to use.
