An ode to our false emptiness.

She wakes up every morning yearning for more. For just a little more.

More love. more fame. more wealth. more talent. more adventure.

Somewhere in that ‘more’ lies her worth, a false bridge she has built over many years, tying her humanity to her results. Such that when she fails, she refuses to love herself. Such that when she watches others in their moments of success, she cannot bask in their glory, but weeps silently in her heart, pleading: “where is mine? where is mine.”

She barters with the Universe, “give me more and I will give you love”. But that ‘more’ may never quite be enough. It may string her along a winding road that never ceases to expand, it may leave her parched, forever empty. Indeed, she, may never quite be enough.

And then there are those times, and those moments, when she sees her salvation. In the way the breeze lifts the leaves on a tree. In the way the sun lights up a child’s eyes. In the way the ocean soothes the shore.

In those moments, she is free. In those moments, she needs no

more.
