I think it’s bad advice to say or imply that language choice (Java here) means bloated and complex while LAMP will mean simple and straightforward.
If I witness the story about 14 developers from India exactly the same but with their choice being PHP instead of Java, believe me, I wouldn’t be expecting a different outcome, and nobody should.
I think better advice would be to skip languages altogether and just focus on advice that transcends languages, like keeping things simple stupid, not choosing a niche language that would be difficult to recruit for, hiring carefully, shooting for quality instead of quantity, and other MVP advice.
But if you think “Java” automatically means enterprise, bloated or complex then I think you are a bit uninformed in this regard.
