Is Google building Sky-Net or Skynet?

A Clean road map to build Skynet (in the Sky?)

Ever since its evolution from a just Search Engine to Web Giant, Google is scaring us (at least me!) with various acquisitions and new products that draw a clean road map to no where other than Skynet.

Even the movie Terminator had built Skynet on the ground — on the Earth, but it seems that Google wants to build its Skynet in the Space and it calls the plan as building Sky-Net: Internet source from the Sky!

So what’s this plan SKY-NET?

Google’s ambitious project to make our SKY (yes, our only Sky) as the ultimate source of Internet — Just like the Sun provides sunlight to the whole world, Google says that its SKY-NET (term coined by me ;)) will provide InterNET Connectivity to the whole world — every nook and corner of the Earth — from the streets of Africa to Wallstreet of the US, Internet everywhere, thus creates the SKY-NET!

The idea is pretty clear and straightforward and we all want Internet connectivity 24x7 but why does Google care about it? Does it think the US way — like the US acting as the world’s Police, Maybe Google thinks itself as the Internet Guardian? Fine, We don’t care.

But how SKY-NET and Skynet come inline? For SKY-NET, Google started with Project Loon (Are they safe from crashing?) and heated up with the recent acquisition spree 1. Titan Aerospace, a drone maker (Ah! once again the US way) 2. Skybox, the Satellite company and 3. Virgin Galactic, the the world’s first space tourism company. As Steve Jobs says, if we connect the dots, I could smell the smoke of Skynet (not SKY-NET!). Because Skynet being the only source to control all the robots, if it’s in the sky, it becomes invincible unless we get Independence Day style War-Jets to shoot them!

And not only that Skynet becomes indestructible, but also the robots can’t be switched off since the power (solar) source is from the sky. So where is Google heading? For me, I couldn't differentiate this Sky-Net and that Skynet so I’m Scared a lot — a lot to the level that i feel that this post must be read by John Connor.
