With respect to the broader debate on carbon, I am constantly baffled by the taker mentality on the right. Cheap energy is great, but if it’s only cheap because you’re not paying for the externalities, that’s outright theft.

I totally understand. If I listened to the left’s characterization of my positions I’d think I was an idiot too. The reality is that I’d prefer that we’d find clean energy to power our society. We’re getting closer and closer to that reality. Ironically, the transition to gas from coal has resulted in a huge reduction in carbon emissions — on a scale that is measurable. The transition from gas to renewables will be slow, but steady. The right is frustrated with the left’s strategy of grabbing ‘power’ through climate change advocacy. They aren’t solving the problem, they’re taking more control.
