The reality is that EVERY founder makes several so-called “pivots” during the course of the birth of their startup. In fact, many founders fail because they don’t stick with their idea long enough. They take the advice of advisors, investors, and board members and abandon their plans in favor of these pivots. I would agree that most ideas, pre-pivot, are doomed, but I would also argue that most post-pivot ideas are doomed as well. Forbes is right — 90% of startups fail (with or without pivots). And yes, founders are the problem and the solution. Without founders you wouldn’t have so many failures, but without them you wouldn’t have so many successes. I advise lots of founders and almost none (many all of them) take my advice.
