999 day

Today I went to the 999 day at The Trafford Centre. Greater Manchester Police were there along with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and a range of other emergency response, community safety and support services.

I thought this would be a great way to see first hand emergency demonstrations and also speak to Police Officers, and show my interest with joining the police service.

There was so much to look at with CSI fingerprinting and DNA sampling, police dogs, road traffic and vehicles that had been in collisions.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins

I was lucky enough to meet the Chief Constable for Greater Manchester Police; Ian Hopkins. I introduced myself to him and explained my interest in joining Greater Manchester Police and what I am currently doing within my preparation phase. He was only too happy to talk to me and point me in the right direction for the recruitment.

A very busy event, and great to see so many children enjoying all the emergency vehicles and activities. Well done to everyone at the event and thank you for a great day :)

Hopefully next year I will be part of this day wearing GMP uniform :)
