I’m surprised the press didn’t follow up on her canned response she repeated a million times — that decision was made in consultation and was about military readiness and unit cohesion. Who exactly was on on this decision? (We both know it was no one but I’d have liked to see her answer to that.) And more importantly, how do transgender soldiers hurt readiness and unit cohesion and could we have a source for that to read and refer to? I didn’t like how the press seemed to just accept the “unit cohesion” dog whistle that has been used to keep blacks, women, gays, and now transgender people out of the service.
