Revolutionary Action
A poem from 2014.
They say I resemble a revolutionist but here is my story
We say God bless America, but does this country deserve glory?
How we objectify our women and we neglect our kids
How the men go out shooting each other, because we can’t forgive
How the poor keep getting poorer and the rich stay rich
How it became okay to call every female either hoe or bitch
Where's that love and the unity that we so claim to have?
Because that nigga who wanted peace, you went and beat his ass.
Neighbor, you’re my brother, so why do I see neighbors killing each other when I turn on my TV?
Even the brothas are doing it everyday. Tell me were we oppressed so much that our own skin is the enemy?
If we’re the land of the brave when did the time come
that if you had a problem with me that we couldn’t talk it out, it was fight or I’m a pussy?
If we’re the land of the free, why will it be
the only way this poem won’t be censored is if it’s on an “explicit” CD?
Am I not free to say fuck when I get a little pissed? And people will agree with my opinion, but we still ain’t doing shit
America, America, don’t you see? That though you proclaimed freedom there are still shackles on my feet
You ask me how can we move forward and make our country true?
Well, here’s the hard part America it all starts with you.
