Online Portfolio: Module 5
Has your opinion about the SAMR model changed? As a teacher would you still use it to underpin your teaching activities? Why/why not?
The open letter to Dr. Ruben Puentedura has slightly changed my opinion on the SAMR model as in this letter the model was portrayed in a very negative light while I have usually heard about it quite positively. In the letter he states that “ the decreased reading abilities among Swedish children can be tied to an increase in computer use” in this case I have lower opinions on the SAMR model as it very focused purely on technology rather than like the TPACK model also focused on traditional form of learning. As a teacher I would not use it to underpin my teaching activities but rather keep same of the steps in mind such as the substitution phase where I could substitute some tasks for writing tasks. The is because I don;t want the main focus of the students learning to be on technology but rather include technology with my own knowledge to create an effective way of teaching.
Bloom’s Taxonomy has undergone many revisions since it was published e.g. Krathwohl, 2000; Marzano, 2000, etc. Compare and contrast Bloom’s Taxonomy with a revised taxonomy of your choice.

There are not many differences at all between the original taxonomy provided by y Bloom in 1956 and the taxonomy by Anderson & Krathwohl 2000. However the main differences seem to visible in the top of the pyramid. The top of Blooms pyramid ends with evaluation while Anderson & Krathwohl end in create. In this situation the revised version found that it was necessary to switch the top two section of the pyramid around so that students evaluate before they create/ synthesize. Both of these taxonomies seem very reasonable but I personally prefer Anderson & Krathwohl’s taxonomy as the final section ends with a creation which gives the students a finish product at the end of their hard work and I think that evaluation of their previous work is important before they are able to create/ synthesize something.
Which learning theory did you identify with most? Why are they important for teachers?
I most identified with the TPACK model as it had an integration of technology within traditional teaching methods rather than shifting the whole teachning strategy to technology. Learning theories are important to teachers as they have something to base their work on. As there are many options, teachers are able to chose which they most identify with so that it will be more effective for the students that they are teaching.
