We are not home yet.
I’m not the best writer and such, but I just feel compelled to share my thoughts to whomever is reading this… I hope it encourages you because man, what I am about to share definitely shed light into my life.
A lot of people share that junior year of high school is difficult and I totally concur. Not just my studies were difficult, but the relationships I had with my friends, family, etc. were difficult. And on top of this, so many horrific things were occurring in our world: terrorist attacks, kidnappings, deaths, etc. I found myself struggling a lot and just crying out to God, “Why?”
I have recently been reading a work by Rick Warren and the teachings in it are extraordinary. My heart is calmed and able to open up to His words. Anyhow, Chapter 6 was something that just really hit home and answered my question “Why?” Warren writes how Earth is not our home; God reminds us of this through all the ADVERSITIES we face — yes, adversities. They are all reminders that in this temporary place, we cannot be happy — heck, we won’t be happy and it’s simply because we are not home yet.
Our home is the beautiful kingdom of our heavenly Father. THAT is our true home and should be our only goal. Author C.S. Lewis once wrote, “All that is not eternal is eternally out of date.” *face palms bc WOWZ* This is something that should encourage us to really live out our lives for Him and Him only. Because in the end, the material success and values we set are useless and meaningless. 2 Corinthians 4:18 also states that We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. This “unseen” is God’s plans for us. While He works in us, we must be faithful servants. However, remember that being faithful will not guarantee success in our lives — don’t focus on the temporary awards. He will award us something unimaginable when we return home. Remember Paul? He was a faithful servant of God, but went to prison. Remember John the Baptist? He was faithful, but was beheaded. Our walk as Christians will be difficult, but it should not discourage us… it sounds weird, but the difficulties should rather encourage us. They should encourage to remind us that Christ faced much more than us and that these difficulties only serve as the catalysts to our growing character and that these difficulties are simply reminders that we are not home yet.
So to my brothers and sisters that are reading this: I hope you are encouraged and that you would hold our Father’s hand tightly on our walk home.
Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

Also, I used to get annoyed by people ALWAYS saying “ttp”, but I think it’s just such a great phrase.. to trust the process — HIS process — because it’s going to be incredible.
