I like this quote, I find that the depth that my analytical thinking can go into can often end up on tangents and ends up taking me away from the clarity of mind that is needed for interacting in the real world.
It’s the saddest thing in the world. You spend all that time unraveling the cosmos in your head just to find that you are back where you started, and the action needed to tackle situation before you remains the same. Pondering is often more an act of escapism than it is an act of problem-solving.
This is why meditation can be such beneficial a beneficial habit to practice. Mindfulness is the process of becoming more aware of when we are lost in thinking, and allows us to be more deliberate in choosing the thoughts we pursue. Continually practicing this skill can help us recognize thinking for what it is, and not become tangled up in our 'invisible world' we construct for ourselves.
