Foggy Night

It’s easy to say a goal, or to “commit” to an act, and probably easier to leave it there. Resolutions have eluded me in the past, so I surprised myself as I ran into the middle of the street near my house. My goal for 2015: Spend 30 minutes on photography a day.

If all the fitness gurus can talk about how little a 30 minute workout is in your whole day, 30 minutes of photography must take an even smaller slice of pie. And no shower time required.

This corner is one I drive daily and I was quite taken by the fog invasion happening as I drove home. I did a full circle to pick up my camera (and parked in what was probably the middle of the street) just to spend fifteen minutes standing in the cold. My hands went numb but I felt invigorated. I now realize this road is not nearly as deserted as I had believed. Running around in the suicide lane will teach ya that.

I haven’t been shooting every day, but I am editing, reading, thinking, planning, and just generally dreaming constantly. It all counts and I look forward to being a better photographer a year from now because of it.

Happy New Year (it’s never too late to say that).
