Push Yourself
Most likely, today you will do as you’ve always done. The same thing, day in, day out. The same job, the same routine, the same level of effort.
Why? Because humans are creatures of habit. We easily fall into routines because we don’t like to be outside of our comfort zones. We do this because routines allow us comfort; — we do this because routines are safe.
The key benefit of a routine is that it requires little effort to perform, but this also manifests as it’s greatest weakness. What happens when you take your foot off the gas in a car? You stop accelerating. If anything, you slow down.
Likewise, when you stop putting effort into the things you do, you effectively limit your ability to improve.

The fear of pushing ourselves stems from the basic human desire to avoid pain. In this example, the pain is not physical, but rather the mental pain associated with failure. However, if we lived our lives without ever pushing ourselves, how would we be able to live up to our full potential?
That’s great, but how do you actually go about pushing yourself? The answer is to break routine and step out of your comfort zone. And do it often.
Pushing yourself means diving into the unknown and doing things that you know won’t be easy, relentlessly persuing whatever it is that you want, despite being told that you can’t.
I’ve been fortunate enough to find people in my life that challenge me to do more everyday. Without realising, these people push me to do more than I ever would have attempted by myself, all because they themselves are in the habit of doing amazing things.
Don’t be afraid of discomfort and sure as hell don’t hold back from doing the things you love for fear of failure. Remember:
It’s not who you are who holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.
