What’s an Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurs are those people that risk their houses, their lives, their money, to make their vision come true. They are the people that are forced to take action because of feelings and motives that are truly cemented in who they are.
A lot of people throw around the term ‘entrepreneur’. In fact, I recently competed in an entrepreneurship ‘competition’. Surely we can’t all be entrepreneurs right? I mean, what actually makes you an entrepreneur?
I’ve met people that call themselves entrepreneurs that have done nothing of the sort, but are studying a business related degree, and on the polar side of the spectrum, I’ve met people who’ve started businesses with revenues in the hundreds of thousands, all from their bedroom.
Entrepreneur isn’t an attribute, it’s a personality.
You are an entrepreneur, it’s not something you demonstrate, it’s who you are, it’s what you’re made of, and it’s how you act.
Real entrepreneurs won’t go around everywhere advertising the fact that they are entrepreneurs, they’ll be out doing entrepreneurial things — they’re building businesses, they’re changing the world?
Personally, I fall trap to it several times myself. I would describe myself as entrepreneurial. But am I an entrepreneur… not yet, but I’m doing everything I can to be.
It’s like an itch that can’t be scratched. An idea that you can’t forget. Or a gut feeling that just won’t go away. It’s a burning fire to make a difference and make the ideas you have in your head a reality.
Sure, you may be doing a business degree, and may have been selling items on a market stall — but you’re not an entrepreneur (and that’s fine).
If you want to be an entrepreneur, stop wasting time thinking about what to call yourself, or what other people are calling you. Go out and do something.
Make a difference.
Be an entrepreneur.
