News Digest 2/17

I read an article this week from NewsWorks.org about a new permanent exhibit coming to the Philadelphia Art Museum. This exhibit is about fresh water mussels as a form of natural water filtration. These mussels had been dying off but are said to be ready for a comeback. The Philadelphia Water Department, Academy of Natural Science, and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary are currently looking for a location near Philadelphia where they can grow to a point where they can start cleaning the rivers. This article is interesting because it’s not a typical form of entertainment. It falls into that category because it’s an exhibit at the museum but if it’s successful then it will teach people about the environment and how taking care of the species that are around us can actually help fulfill our needs like clean water.
