Caroline, I never understood the whole concept of reminding people over dinner that kids in Africa are dying — as if it helped that we glutonously finish our dinner (and then complaineed about gaining weight). In this sense I whole-heartedly agree with James; it is “sick” that the concept of gratefulness is abused to keep us in place. Instead of teaching our kids to finish their dinner, we should teach them how much to take in the first place. Instead of making people feel guilty about their immense privilege, we should open their eyes to it so they can use it for something good. Anywho, getting carried away… Thanks for commenting!
