Indeed, the whole presumption that that is what one does when one gains political influence in the West is baked into the cake of the academic Left as far back as Chomsky and Zinn. But at least they know that “bourgeois, red-state straight white dudes” was a pretty piss-poor operational definition of “the ruling class.”
