E-commerce Product Performance Report

Anyone who uses Google Analytics to monitor website’s performance, need to be aware of Data Studio. Data Studio is a free tool by Google which allows visualising and automating many types of reports. In particular, it is very powerful tool when you use platforms such as Google Analytics, Adwords, Facebook Ads, YouTube channel, Google Docs (and many more). There are many different ways in which you can pull your data into Data Studio and there are many connectors available.

The main advantages of Data Studio are

  • free and very easy to use (no coding skills required)
  • completely automated (if for example pulling data directly from Google Analytics)
  • share-ability (you can share beautiful reports with you colleagues or clients). You can even embed it into your website.
  • interactivity (you can make it interactive by adding date range selectors, or various filters)
  • custom dimensions and metrics (which becomes very handy when for example you want to build your own custom channel groupings and trend them over time)

In this example we are showing a report focused around E-Commerce website, in particular Products Performance.

Metrics used:

  • Product Revenue
  • Revenue Share
  • Quantity Sold
  • Revenue per Sale
  • Avg Qty per Sale
  • Product Details Page Views
  • Adds to Basket
  • Basket-to-Detail Rate
  • Buy-to-Detail Rate
  • Unique Purchases

The sole source of data for this report is just Google Analytics. No updates or refresh required.

You can embed your Data Studio reports into a website of your choice, or otherwise simply use it within Data Studio environment. Note that Data Studio does not (yet) support Mobile.
